From Offcuts to Experiences: The Story of Woodcraft Workshop at Center Parcs

Every great craft has a story – and the Woodcraft Workshop at Center Parcs begins with that of The Twisted Knot: a journey shaped by resilience, creativity and a deep respect for the natural world.

Founded in 2019 by husband-and-wife team Holly and Gavin, The Twisted Knot grew from a small farm-based workshop into a thriving family business rooted in sustainability and craftsmanship. What began with repurposed offcuts from Gavin’s furniture-making business soon evolved when Holly started transforming these materials into handcrafted home décor. Demand grew quickly, leading to sell-out workshops, national recognition and, by 2022, a permanent home at a leading Yorkshire attraction.

It was here that a particularly meaningful partnership emerged.

A Natural Fit: The Twisted Knot at Center Parcs

In October 2024, The Twisted Knot brought its workshops to Center Parcs Sherwood Forest, becoming an integral part of the Woodcraft Workshop experience. For Holly and Gavin, it was a full-circle moment. Center Parcs had long been a family favourite, and the opportunity to collaborate with a brand so closely aligned in values felt instinctively right.

Sustainability has always been at the heart of The Twisted Knot. What began with repurposing offcuts has grown into a commitment to using FSC-certified, responsibly sourced materials, mirroring Center Parcs’ own ethos of environmental care and respect for the forest setting.

Today, the Woodcraft Workshop brings together manufacturing, creativity and hands-on experiences under one roof – allowing guests to slow down, reconnect and create something meaningful to take home.

A Creative Experience for Corporate Events

While families regularly enjoy the workshops, the Woodcraft Workshop also lends itself beautifully to corporate events and team-building programmes at Center Parcs, available at both Sherwood Forest and Woburn Forest.

In a world of screen-heavy schedules and fast-paced meetings, the Woodcraft Workshop offers something refreshingly different:

  • A hands-on, mindful activity that encourages creativity and focus
  • An inclusive experience where everyone can participate, regardless of skill
  • A shared sense of achievement as teams create something tangible together
  • A strong sustainability story that aligns with modern corporate values

Whether used as a breakout session, team-building activity or a wellbeing-focused addition to a conference, the Woodcraft Workshop creates space for conversation, collaboration and connection – all set within the calm of the forest environment.
